Shorebirds fans welcome MLB’s top overall pick

SALISBURY, Md. – Another future star for the Orioles is making his way through Delmarva on their way to Camden Yards.
Jackson Holliday, the top overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, has been moved up to Delmarva.
Holliday is the son of 15-year major leaguer Matt Holliday, who as it turns out hit a home run at Perdue Stadium in the late 90s as a hungry teenager eager to make his major league dreams come true.
The Oklahoma prep shortstop made quick work of rookie ball, batting .409 with a home run, 3 steals, and 10 walks to just 2 strikeouts. It’s the pro debut the Orioles were hoping for.
Holliday finished his debut with the Shorebirds 1-for-4 with a walk and 2 RBI in a 7-3 loss to Lynchburg.
