FELTON, Del.- The Felton Police Department is currently investigating a break-in at an elementary school over the weekend.

According to police, late Saturday night two unknown men forced entry from a window into Lake Forest North Elementary School.

Fortunately, school officials tells us that due to a tight-knit security system the intruders weren’t able to leave with anything of value.

Lake Forest School District Superintendent Steven Lucas says over his three years with the district, this was the first time an incident of this nature has occurred.

Now, he says the safety both students and faculty are top priority. “We got pretty strong physical barriers in place. Our buildings aren’t easy to access to begin with so that deters a lot of  opportunities break in,” Superintendent Lucas said.

“I just like to ensure everybody that we do everything we can to ensure a safe and secure environment here in the school district.”

We did reach out to the Felton Police Department who confirmed that both men are in police custody.

Further details are limited as this is an on-going investigation.

We will be sure to update you with information as we learn more.
