“It just really feels great:” Unity day event brings community together, supports local youth

SALISBURY, Md. -The VFW Wicomico Post 10159’s Unity Day made a long-awaited return Saturday afternoon.

Organizers tell us they were happy to bring the event back as it had been on hiatus due to the pandemic.

Attendees of all ages got the chance to shop with local vendors and enjoy food and music from a live DJ.

Many community organizations were on site offering services, including the Wicomico County Health Department with COVID-19 vaccines.

We’re told the focus of today was togetherness and supporting local youth. “Our youth are the future and we want to pass on what we learn to them,” VFW Post #10159 Committee Chair Calvin Mitchell Sr. said.

“It feels to come back and bring everybody together. It just really feels great.”

School supplies were also available for those in need to get youngsters prepared for the upcoming school year right around the corner.
