Indian River School District food service to return to pre-pandemic operations

SELBYVILLE, Del. – Following the expiration of USDA waivers on June 30, 2022, free meals will no longer be available to all students in the Indian River School District.

Effective at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year in September, food service at all schools will return to pre-pandemic operations. This means students at all Indian River District schools will be required to pay for breakfast and lunch, unless they qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program.

Since the pandemic began, meals were available to all students free of charge. At the start of the 2022-2023 school year, parents and guardians will need to apply for free or reduced meals for their students.

Parents/guardians wishing to apply for free or reduced-price meals for their children are encouraged to submit a Meal Benefit Form to the district Department of Nutrition Services before the start of the school year. A household may apply for benefits at any time during the school year. The form can be found online or through the TITAN Family Portal.
