Henlopen Football Preview: Seaford Blue Jays
SEAFORD, Del. – Seaford’s football team made a remarkable turnaround in their first season in the newly-formed Class 1A.
The team finished 7-2 in the regular season, and lost by three points to Tatnall in the first round of the DIAA playoffs. The 2021 fall season was a success for the Blue Jays, and they are looking to build off of that momentum.
“Make it to the playoffs… go undefeated, and just play hard every game,” said quarterback Careen Bolden.
Only two seniors were lost due to graduation, now a crop of nine seniors and 20 juniors make up a veteran core for the Jays.
“Our motto this year was you have to suffer two pains in life, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret,” said Mark Quillen, head coach of the Blue Jays. “We’re really focusing on tightening up the discipline on our team so that we don’t regret what happens at the end of the season.”
