Film touches on real life struggles women face day-to-day

47ABC – “When the music changes” is an independent film based on real-life incidents and the violence women face day to day. And doctor turned filmmaker, Lakshmi Devy wrote directed, and stars in it.

The film centers around an Indian American woman who is trapped in an abusive relationship while juggling her work. And after a sexual assault incident shakes up her whole world she re-thinks her relationship and takes action regarding her self-respect. Devy tells us the film comes in a timely manner with the controversy going on in the world when it comes to a woman’s body.

And she hopes victims of sexual abuse who may view her film can take an important lesson away from it.

“I would like every woman to always know and remember that you are not asking for it, you were never asking for it and if something like this does happen to you, do not even for a second think that you have lost your honor or your self-respect. The people who should be ashamed are the assaulter. That was my message and will always be my message,” says Devy.

The film originally debuted in India but is now available in America on itunes, Google Play, and Youtube movies.

And in light of the overturning of Roe V. Wade for every iTunes rental over the next three months, a portion of the film’s profits will be donated to planned parenthood.
