DPH to expand access to monkeypox vaccine for eligible individuals

Monkeypox Delaware

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health has announced additional locations for those who meet eligibility criteria to get the monkeypox vaccine.

Earlier this week, DPH expanded access to the vaccine to those living with HIV and those receiving HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis. Starting on Monday, access will be expanded to include those engaging in high-risk activities, including sexual practices, that increase exposure to the virus. These include:

  • Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men and have had multiple or any anonymous sexual partners
  • Transgender women or nonbinary persons assigned male at birth who have sex with men
  • Sex workers of any sexual orientation/gender
  • Staff at establishments where sexual activity occurs (bathhouses, saunas, sex clubs)

DPH has been administering the vaccine at its public health clinics by appointment only. Those seeking a vaccine must contact the MPX Hotline number (1-866-408-1899) to be evaluated by a staff member and schedule an appointment. Walk-ins for the vaccine will not be accepted.
