Severe Storms Possible Late Monday, Break from the Heat

SALISBURY, Md. – A cold front will approach Delmarva on Monday, touching off scattered thunderstorms that are expected to arrive in the evening. Taking advantage of an unstable hot and humid environment, a few of the storms will have the potential to become severe with damaging winds. Before the storms arrive, another dangerously hot day is expected with highs in the mid 90s and heat indices reaching the mid 100s.

BREAK FROM THE HEAT: The risk for severe weather will be in exchange for some long awaited relief from the 24-heat cycle that has been persistent for several days across Delmarva. Although a summer-like airmass is expected to remain in place through the week, daytime temperatures will moderate somewhat. In most locations, highs are expected to only reach the 80s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Even with a slow climb back to the 90s to end the week, slightly cooler temperatures are expected again for the weekend, keeping a return to a continuous period of dangerous heat indices at bay for the short term.
