Ocean View man found passed out in vehicle, arrested on 7th DUI

OCEAN VIEW, Del. – An Ocean View man was arrested late last week on his 7th DUI and other related charges.

According to police, a call came in on July 1st regarding a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot of the Royal Farms, located at 58 Atlantic Avenue. Officers found the man, later identified as 61-year-old Paul Longacre, passed out behind the wheel of a Subaru Forester.

Further investigation revealed that Longacre was under the influence of heroin at the time of the incident and that his driver’s license was revoked. Police searched the vehicle and found several baggies of suspected heroin. A computer check revealed that Longacre had six previous DUI convictions.

He was arrested and charged with 7th offense DUI, possession and consumption of a controlled substance, and driving while revoked. He was held at SCI on a $20,300 secured bond.
