Hunger Relief Day returns to fair grounds, serves as a promotion/allows fairgoers to give back

HARRINGTON, Del.- Monday’s at the Delaware State Fair allow you the chance to give back to those in need and receive free admission as a reward.

To do so, you most donate 5 non-perishable Food Lion brand items.

Hunger Relief Day at the fair is in partnership between the Food Bank of Delaware and Food Lion.

Both organizations say initiatives like this are more important now than ever as their neighbors have been impacted by the high costs of food due to rising inflation.

The event typically brings in thousands of pounds of food and organizers say they’re hoping for that same strong turnout this year. “We’re looking for a great yield today that which again will serve a wonderful two fold purpose. It’ll help folks get that admission and enjoy the Delaware State Fair but also help those in need at the same time,” Food Bank of Delaware’s Director of External Affairs Chad Robinson said.

“Everybody is so generous both with their food donations like today but also with their financial donations. We couldn’t do it without all those folks so we just want to say thank you.”

Food Lion also tells 47abc other initiatives like Food Lion Feeds also supports the community.
