Happy customers support new local Berlin juice shop

BERLIN, Md.- If you walk down Pitts Street in Berlin, you’ll find a new addition to the community. It’s called Jun and Juice.

“We are here and showing up, we are so glad to be open, we hope to be here for the long term as well,” Megan Hines, owner of Jun and Juice, said.

Megan Hines said it’s her own little pocket of paradise. It’s named after Jun, which is a honey Kombucha, and their cold pressed juice they serve.
But that’s not all the offer, they also have yogurt bowls, ice pops, and smoothies. “It’s something I feel like we are doing such good in the world bringing healthy food to Berlin and to our family,” Megan said.

But running a business isn’t new to Megan. She and her husband, Brett Hines, own The Buzz Meadery in Berlin. “Luckily, with the Buzz Meadery we have a good established network and that has been really key because all of the relationship building with our local farmers we already have, which is why we jumped into business with this,” Brett said.

And, the Hines tell us those connections helped them as they opened during the pandemic. “We’ve had some delays on a couple of items with food, but we are really trying to rely heavily on our local food producers here,” Brett said.

That’s not the only thing they had to consider though. “So with this new juice bar, it’s a very small square footage so we knew right off the bat that customers weren’t going to be able to come and hang out inside and sit down,” Brett said. But, the small space isn’t a problem. In fact, they said it makes business more efficient and customers are already showing the love. “We see a lot of familiar faces that we’ve known from the farmers market vendors nearby or people who just live in the community,” Megan said.

That local support is something that Ivy Wells, the Economic and Community Development Director for the town, said is important for businesses economically. “We are a tourist destination; we feed off of the Ocean City traffic, but during the rest of the year the businesses still have to survive and we have such an amazing community that supports the local businesses,” Wells said.

For right now, Jun and Juice is open everyday, except Tuesday, from 7 to 2. We’re told they will have a flexible menu and will continue to release new flavors.
