Cambridge Police Chief announces retirement
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – After 35 years of law enforcement service and almost 5 years as Chief of Police for the Cambridge Police Department, Chief Mark Lewis has announced his retirement, effective September 6, 2022.
In a statement, Chief Lewis said, “It has truly been an honor and a privilege to have served as Cambridge’s 8th Police Chief. I will miss helping the community and being able to improve the quality of life for our citizens. But most of all I will miss the officers who will continue to serve this city for years to come.”
Chief Lewis began his career in law enforcement in 1988 and steadily rose through the ranks of the Cambridge Police Department. He retired as Acting Police Chief in 2017 before answering the call to return to service in March 2018 as Chief of Police again.
