Newton Community Center to get splash of color with upcoming mural project
SALISBURY, Md. – The Newton Street Community Center is currently seeking volunteers for an upcoming mural project.
In collaboration with Salisbury University’s ShoreCorps program, the center wants to revamp one of its under utilized spaces.
This weekend, volunteers will get to help create a vibrant, interactive wall that will be filled with many shapes and bold colors.
Organizers say the goal is to create a more inviting space while allowing community members to make new connections. “By inviting more people into that it sort of brings a sense of not necessarily ownership, but belonging,” ShoreCorps Scholar and Mural Project Organizer Erica Schlorb said. “It is very important to get that socialization, make friendships, and get a understanding of who’s in the community.”
The mural event will be this Saturday, June 4th at the Newton Center from noon-4p.m.
The event will include free food, music, and games.
