Missing boaters body found after 6 months with no answers

DORCHESTER CO., Md – After months with no answers,  a local family got closure, involving a missing loved one.
The body of boater, Ernie Sigmon III, was recovered at the mouth of the Choptank River.

47ABC has been following his disappearance since December of 2021.

Sigmon took the boat out one day and was reported missing hours later. It wasn’t until Monday morning at 11 a.m., did the family find out where he was.

His body was recovered by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources after a concerned citizens found his body.

The family taking to social media to express their thoughts with the recovery.

“After 173 days of this unimaginable tragedy, God has brought Ernie home to us. Our hope, faith, and strength has never been so extensively tested. Each and every day, we feel such a tremendous loss deep in our hearts.” -Sigmon Family

The cause of Ernie’s death has yet to be determined, answers will come after an autopsy has been completed.
