Spring Fest comes to a close early due to rain, still brought in good crowds Thursday

OCEAN CITY, Md.- After days of rain sweeping in, the town of Ocean City cut their Spring Fest event short.

It usually goes on for 4 days bringing in vendors and live entertainment. Last Thursday, their opening event brought in record crowds. But, days after weren’t as promising. The Special Events Director, Frank Miller, said about 60% of their vendors left early Friday night due to weather and they ended up closing for the rest of the weekend.

“We know we are always up against the weather and it’s always going to be a risk,” Miller said. “So, the amount of time and effort we put into that 4 day event is always worth it even if we only get 2 days of it, and the vendors were happy they got that Thursday, very gracious we let them go early.”

Although they closed early, Miller says the festival still brought in a good amount of tourists.

Miller said moving forward they’ve learned lessons from the weather and plan to be more proactive next year.
