South Bethany fixes their walk-ways to the beach just in time for Memorial Day Weekend

SOUTH BETHANY, Del.- While recent nor-easter storms created drops-off at the dunes and unsafe passage-ways on South Bethany Beaches, town officials said they’ve made progress repairing beach access.

The town now has every walk-way open on their beaches after they worked with Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to fix things up.Fencing has also been placed on top of the steeper walkways where the dunes were damaged. Town leaders tell 47ABC they can’t wait to see folks back on their beaches for Memorial Day Weekend.

“It was a very good example of local, state, and federal government working together to get this done, they realized,”Sue Callaway, South Bethany Mayor Pro-Tem and Councilwoman, said. “Now, we still have some steps to go but i think we are good for Memorial Day as far as getting to the beach.”

Town officials tell us their next focus is to get the handicapped walkway at South 3rd replaced.

They add if you are planning on coming to the beaches Memorial Day weekend please stay safe by staying off the dunes.
