Salisbury man sentenced for cocaine, firearm offenses

1280 Maldonado

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man has been sentenced to jail time for cocaine trafficking and firearm offenses.

37-year-old Angel Maldonado was sentenced earlier this week to 35 years of incarceration, with all but 12 years suspended. Maldonado was convicted by a Wicomico County jury back in March of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and other related offenses. Maldonado will be required to serve five years of his sentence without the possibility of parole and will be placed on five years of supervised probation.

The charges stem from an investigation regarding Maldonado distributing drugs in Wicomico County. On January 17, 2020, law enforcement officers executed a search and seizure warrant on Maldonado’s residence, seizing a Ruger .40-caliber handgun, ammunition, and drug trafficking equipment and paraphernalia. Maldonado is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a 2014 conviction for distribution of heroin.
