Police: Traffic stop leads to discovery of loaded firearms, drugs
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say a traffic stop Saturday night led to the discovery of drugs and two loaded firearms.
At around 11 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Lincoln Street and Forrest Street for a motor vehicle violation. During the stop, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A subsequent search led to the discovery of 23 grams of marijuana, a loaded .45 caliber handgun under the driver’s seat, and a loaded revolver in a backpack inside the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 18-year-old Javian Scott, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a firearm/ammo by a person prohibited, two counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of marijuana. He was later released after posting a $25,000 secured bond.
