Del. man sentenced to prison for hate crime

SUSSEX CO., Del. – A Sussex County man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a hate crime involving a neighbor.

38-year-old James Raab of Laurel was sentenced on April 22nd after pleading guilty to felony hate crime, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, and resisting arrest.

Raab was arrested following an investigation into an incident in which police say he threatened a neighbor with a knife while yelling racial slurs. He has remained behind bars since his arrest nearly one year ago, on May 25, 2021.
