Del. man arrested on 8th DUI following Lewes traffic stop

LEWES, Del. – A Wilmington man is behind bars after being charged with his 8th DUI over the weekend.

We’re told at around 2 p.m. Saturday, a trooper on patrol observed a blue Ford Expedition traveling at a high rate of speed on Coastal Highway in the area of Dartmouth Drive. The trooper stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as 51-year-old Donald Shelton, who was showing signs of impairment.

Following a DUI investigation, Sheldon was taken into custody at the scene. A computer check revealed he had been convicted for seven prior DUI offenses.

Sheldon was held at SCI on a $20,050 secured bond for felony DUI and speeding charges.
