Crisfield gets new chief of police, chief explains his plans for the city
CRISFIELD, Md. – Last week Crisfield appointed a new Chief of Police, Rick Taylor.
47 ABC had a chance to speak to Chief Taylor and talk about his plans for the city. Chief Taylor has been with Crisfield police for almost 16 years, making him quite familiar with the city. He says he attended the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy and moved up from there.
While spending some of his years in Chicago, Chief Taylor says there’s nothing like the small-town feel. Although he worked closely with former chief of police, David Alfonso, he has the same mission which is to gain trust and create a relationship with the community.
“You don’t get to know people by having a high turnover rate and things like that you get to know people by being here,” says Chief Taylor. He adds, “So it’s nice knowing people on a first name basis, knowing their kids, their grandkids, and having those lines of communication open where they trust me and they’re comfortable coming to me and talking to me about their concerns.”
Chief Taylor also tells 47 ABC he wants to spend time with business owners, attend more community events, and become approachable.
