Carper Celebrates Postal Legislation Promoting Wildlife Conservation Becoming Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Delaware Senator Tom Carper celebrated the passing of a new law that will help conserve vanishing wildlife.

The Multinational Species Conservation Funds Stamp Reauthorization Act uses a specific “saving vanishing species stamp”, priced above a normal first-class stamp.

The extra cost goes to fund the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service along with programs that aid against poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and habitat protection.

The Law will require the U.S. Postal Service to sell the remaining 41 million Stamps left in stock after the program printed 100 million back in 2011.

Since that time $6.5 million was raised through the Act.

This law gives Americans an easy way to contribute to the program, “{it} makes conserving wildlife as easy as mailing a letter”, Says John Calvelli, Wildlife Conservation Society Executive Vice President of Public Affairs.
