Police: Talbot Co. man charged with abusing 4-month-old

TRAPPE, Md. – A Trappe man has been arrested following a child abuse investigation.

According to the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, a report came in on April 17th regarding a 4-month-old child who suffered serious injuries from an assault. The 4-month-old was taken to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. for treatment of serious injuries.

The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and the Talbot County Department of Social Services investigated the abuse, determining that 23-year-old David Byrd was responsible for the abuse of the child. Byrd was arrested on April 18th for assaulting the victim numerous times over the course of the past several months.

Byrd is being held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center pending further court hearings.
