DOVER, Del. – A Dover man is behind bars after police say he tried to chase a man with a ghost gun Sunday evening.

Shortly before 8 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of White Oak Road was approached by a 24-year-old man who reportedly told the officer that he was being chased by a subject with a gun. The victim provided police with a description of the suspect and was able to point out the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Brandon Gatewood.

The officer then tried to contact Gatewood, who was running towards Manchester Square. After a brief pursuit, Gatewood was taken into custody, but police say during the pursuit he was seen clutching his front waistband. A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of a loaded polymer handgun, which is often referred to as a ghost gun.

The victim reported that Gatewood approached him while he was sitting in his vehicle on Starboard Court and pointed the gun at him. The victim then got out of his vehicle and fled on foot.

Gatewood was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm/ammo by a person prohibited, aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, possession of an untraceable firearm, and possession of a weapon with a removed serial number. He was held at SCI on a $113,000 cash bond.
