OC Art League announces new diversity fellow, pushes to redefine local artistry
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Art League recently announced its newest Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion fellowship recipient. The goal is to bring a greater understanding and connection to art on the shore.
Ian Postley started his journey with the art league back in 2013, receiving a scholarship from the organization to pursue an education at the Delaware College of Art & Design.
Postley’s work is diverse including graphic design, fine art, stickers, and even yearly posters for the OC Film Festival.
The diversity fellowship seeks to inspire creativity and redefine the future of art locally.
It’s a goal that Postley says he’s up for. “I think the ideals are starting to change. I think that’s very visible in the past social changes and acceptance of many different things,” Diversity Fellow Ian Postley said. “Even inspiring artist who might feel like its too late to start being an artist or expressing themselves to their fullest extent that their is a place here that they can showcase that.”
One of Postley’s first duties in this role is visiting Stephan Decatur High School, which is alma mater, to chat with younger artists, and learn what inspires them.
He adds even though he considers himself professional, he’s not to polished to learn from the others.
