Oak Ridge Baptist Church coordinates another 700+ volunteer effort for PEACE 1 Day

SALISBURY, Md. – All across the Eastern Shore, volunteers wearing green shirts were out and about helping the community with numerous projects on Palm Sunday. It was all a part of Oak Ridge Baptist’s church ‘PEACE 1 Day.’

Close to 700 volunteers were spread out across Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, and Dorchester Counties. Projects ranged from building ramps for homes, cleaning up yards and facilities, and helping different organizations.

47 ABC stopped by the Salisbury Zoological Park where over 100 volunteers were raking leaves, planting trees, and keeping the area clean for visitors and its animals. While this is an annual event, organizers say each year is even more special. “So diversity across ages, genders, just different cultures, all of us coming together and serving has been really amazing,” says Heather Smith, Director of PEACE 1 Day. Site Coordinator, Stephanie Rush adds, “Just to come out and be the hands and feet of Jesus in a very non-confrontational way 40 just to come out and serve our community no matter where you attend church or what you do has been awesome.”
