AAA said that more than 60% of state residents are planning a summer trip, with 40% planning to travel more this summer than last summer. According to AAA, many Marylanders said this will be their first significant summer trip since the pandemic started.

The company also said rising gas prices aren’t stopping Maryland’s desire to hit the road.

“Now, we think people are just really have beyond pent up demand and really a great desire to get back out to travel, spend time with family and friends and sort of resume life as we know it,” Ragina Ali, the Public and Government Affairs Manager, said.

Ali said more than 20% of Marylanders are planning to travel internationally this summer, that’s something we have not seen since 2019.
