KW realty fundraiser set to help Ukraine, Harpoon Hanna’s hosting

FENWICK, Del. – If you’re looking to help the victims of the invasion of Ukraine, local realtors with Keller Williams Realty and many others are working together for an upcoming fundraiser.

Next Monday, April 25th, Harpoon Hanna’s in Fenwick is hosting a Ukraine Relief fundraiser with proceeds benefiting “United Help Ukraine.” From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., visitors can stop by the restaurant for live and silent auctions, as well as music, food, and fun.

Items being auctioned include gift certificates for popular restaurants, artwork from Ukrainian artists, and even hotel stays. Organizers say, they just want to make a difference, even if they’re miles away.

“I would watch the news every night and wring my hands and sometimes weep and I just felt helpless,” says Sandra Erbe, an organizer, and realtor with Keller and Williams Realty. Another organizer and realtor, Jennifer Smith adds, “Since so many Ukrainian students come to our area and work and support and help run our local businesses, we wanted to make sure that we could give back to them.”

Erbe also tells 47 ABC, that through many hours, they were able to put this together within a month.

“This is the most generous community, I can’t tell you how many beautiful gifts have been donated to help raise money,” Erbe says they have gift certificates from fine restaurants, beautiful packages, and overnight weekend packages at Air b&b at hotels. “That $100 gift certificate could feed a family of four over there for two months!” exclaims Erbe.

While organizers say this may have taken a lot of work. they’re just excited to see the result, and the community coming together to support these efforts.

“Our culture is giving back, giving back primarily to each of our local communities but in this case, we are a community with the people of Ukraine and we are doing everything we can to help them,” says Erbe. Smith adds, “Our company trying to make a difference in not just selling real estate is what makes it as important and something to be part of.”

Harpoon Hanna’s is also donating 20% of its food and drink sales to fundraisers.

Organizers also say they need bidders for the online portion of the auction and you can find more information about it here.
