Indian River School District looking for citizens to help manage school finances

DELAWARE- The Indian River School District is looking for community members to serve on their Citizens Budget Oversight Committee.

The committee does a number of things ranging from reviewing financial statements to trends and needs for the future of the district.

The Superintendent, the Director of Finance and 10 citizens of the District will serve on the committee.

Right now, they’re looking for 5 new members.

They said having citizens at the table with District leaders provides accountability for the school district and oversight on how school finances work.

“Basically, see what our needs are, where we are spending money, what our budgets look like, and it’s always good to see that level of transparency with the public,” David Maull, he District’s PIO, said. “So, that’s why this board is such a good tool.”

If you’re interested in serving on the committee, you must submit your application by May 6th.
