Celebrating Salisbury Poetry Week

SALISBURY, MD – It is Salisbury Poetry Week. Teri Ellen Cross Davis and Tara Elliott joined the Good Morning Delmarva team to talk about what the week is all about.

Every year during the first full week of April, Salisbury Poetry Week celebrates the written and spoken word. It first began, in 2016, thanks to a collective group of teachers, students, poets, and community members.

The Eastern Shore Voices’ mission is to build compassion and improve the craft of communication through the ancient art of poetry. This week features educational classroom visitation through poet-in-the-schools programming, workshops, and readings for all levels of writers. All of which are free and open to the public.

Teri Ellen Cross Davis is the author of a More Perfect Union. She was awarded the Poetry Society of America’s 2020 Robert H. Winner Memorial Award. Davis’ work has appeared in print, online, journals, and anthologies. She is currently the Poetry Coordinator for the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. She lives in Maryland with her husband, poet Hayes Davis and their two children.
