“Be Smart Campaign” Zoom event making parents aware of gun safety
The Worcester County NAACP is encouraging gun safety and will host the “Be Smart” Zoom event on April 21 at 6:30 p.m.
This campaign is designed to help parents and adults normalize conversations about gun safety with kids and prevent child gun deaths and injuries. Organizers said there is an uptick in the number of accidental shootings when children have access to unattended firearms and getting the word out is key to saving lives.
“The goal of this program is to encourage responsible behaviors,” Nicole Hollywood, a Be Smart Representative, said. “Be smart is potentially a life saving program, it’s for gun owners as well as non-gun owners, parents, grandparents, and and uncles, we are really emphasizing the importance of secure gun storage.”
