St. Michaels man charged following multiple “peeping tom” incidents

1280 Diego Lopez

ST. MICHAELS, Md. – Police in Talbot County have arrested a man for the third time in a week for visual surveillance crimes in the St. Michaels area.

On March 8th, 29-year-old Diego Lopez was arrested for trying to burglarize a residence on Jefferson Avenue. Lopez was reportedly caught in the act by the resident, who detained Lopez until deputies arrived. Lopez was released later that day after a bond review. The next day, Lopez was arrested on an arrest warrant issued for a peeping tom incident in December 2021. He was released again later that afternoon.

Following that release, citizen information came in regarding two unreported peeping tom incidents that took place between May and June 2021 and September and October 2021. The caller reported that she saw Lopez peeking into the windows of two different residences in the 100 block of Miles Lane.

Detectives investigated these reports and obtained an arrest warrant for Lopez, who was arrested at the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office on Monday. Lopez was charged with two counts of peeping tom and two counts of trespass – peeping tom. He was held without bond.
