MILLSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place Tuesday night in Millsboro.
At around 11:20 p.m., police say a 2004 Ford Explorer being driven by a 26-year-old Millsboro woman was traveling eastbound on Route 24, just west of Revel Road. At the same time, a 2006 Honda CRV being driven by a 53-year-old Salisbury woman was traveling westbound on Millsboro Highway in the same area. While driving, the right side of the Ford hit a deer within the travel lane. After hitting the deer, the Ford continued eastbound, but for unknown reasons crossed over the center line and hit the front of the Honda in the westbound travel lane. The Ford then spun before coming to rest in the eastbound travel lane, while the Honda went off the north edge of the road and came to rest in an open field.
The 26-year-old driver of the Ford was not properly restrained at the time of the crash, according to police. She was taken to Beebe Hospital with minor injuries.
The 53-year-old driver of the Honda was properly restrained and pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.
