Milford house fire ruled accidental, GoFundMe set up to help victims
MILFORD, Del. – A house fire in Milford Thursday morning has been ruled accidental by state fire investigators.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., Kent County 911 was notified by a home alarm system of a fire at a residence in the 200 block of Wisteria Drive. Firefighters responded to the scene and placed the blaze under control roughly 45 minutes later.
Further investigation by Delaware State Fire Marshals determined that the fire began in the first floor dining room and was caused by the failure of a laptop computer charging system and components.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, however, two dogs were rescued from the home. The dogs were treated on scene by EMS but unfortunately succumbed to their smoke-related injuries.
Damages have been estimated at over $200,000. The Red Cross was notified to help the occupants.
Additionally, a GoFundMe page has been set up by a relative to help the family. If you would like to donate, click here.
