DOVER, Del. – Friday afternoon at Bayhealth Kent Campus in Dover, Del., they held their 2nd Match Day where new physicians will become part of the Bayhealth family.
Medical students will begin their residency in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine, as well as the Inaugural General Surgery Residency Program. Students will spend the next several years training in their specialty, and Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education program is the first of its kind.
Current residents tell 47 ABC, this is always crucial in a medical student’s career. The medical staff hopes to prepare future doctors to help with the growing need for medical help across the state.
Dr. Kendall Barton, MC of the Match Day, current resident with Family Medicine says, “So now to have people underneath us for a year looking up to us for guidance and be role models so for me it’s a challenge but it’s something that I think will help guide me as a physician.”
He advises other medical students, “Don’t give up we all have road bumps we all have issues along the way but hard work, dedication, and passion for what you’re doing will get you there.”
Medical starts will begin their residency July 1st.
