Juvenile charged in connection to social media threat at Easton High School
EASTON, Md. – A juvenile has been charged following a bomb threat at Easton High School.
Police say on Tuesday, a Talbot County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer assigned to Easton High School received information regarding a bomb threat directed at the school, which was posted on social media. An investigation was launched, and in cooperation with Instagram and a cell phone company, detectives determined that the threat was posted by the suspect from inside the school. Detectives worked throughout the day and into the evening, ultimately determining that the suspect was a student enrolled at the school.
Evidence was developed to charge the juvenile with threat of mass violence and disturbing school operations. The juvenile has been charged and referred to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, and per Maryland law, the suspect was released to their custodian at the conclusion of the investigation.
