Gov. Hogan: Maryland’s COVID positivity rate below 2%, hospitalizations down 90% from peak

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Governor Larry Hogan says the state’s COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped below 2%, and hospitalizations are down 90% since the Omicron peak.

As of Thursday morning, Maryland’s positivity rate is down to 1.9%, down 93.7% from the Omicron peak of 29.98%. This is the first time the state’s positivity rate has been below 2% since July 23, 2021.

Hospitalizations, which peaked at 3,452 in January, are down to 345, with 74 ICU patients. This is the lowest level since August 5, 2021. Additionally, Maryland is continuing to report the country’s second lowest case rate at 8.6 per 100,000.
