Four arrested after fleeing from police in stolen vehicle

HARRINGTON, Del. – Four people were taken into custody after they reportedly fled from police in a stolen car.

While on patrol, officers observed a vehicle that matched the description of a car believed to have been associated with another crime the day prior. A computer check of the license plate confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Downington, PA. Officers then tried to stop the vehicle, but it failed to stop and fled southbound on Route 13 at a high rate of speed. Officers chased the vehicle for a short period of time, but discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns.

A description of the vehicle was provided to patrol units in Sussex County, and a Delaware State Police unit saw the vehicle in the Seaford area. The vehicle then reportedly turned off Route 13 onto Chandler Road before coming to a stop at a residence. All occupants then tried to flee from the vehicle, however, the trooper and Seaford Police units were able to take the four suspects into custody and turned them over to Harrington Police officers.

26-year-old Jeppea Smith was charged with receiving stolen property over $1500, second degree conspiracy, disregarding a police officer, reckless driving, and numerous other traffic charges. He was released on his own recognizance and also had several capiases out of New Castle County, for which he was also released on his own recognizance.

18-year-old Kyaire Finch, 22-year-old Aunyell Davis, and 38-year-old Monique White were all charged with receiving stolen property over $1500 and second degree conspiracy. All three were released on their own recognizance.
