Fire destroys Denton home, fire officials investigating

DENTON, Md. – A fire that destroyed a Caroline County home Saturday morning remains under investigation.

Shortly before 8 a.m., firefighters were called to the 1100 block of Camp Road for a reported house fire. The fire was reported by the occupant and was placed under control in approximately 35 minutes.

Officials say the occupant and one firefighter suffered minor injuries, but both refused medical treatment. One dog and one cat sadly did not make it. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and total damage has been estimated at $210,000.
