Dover tax preparer indicted by federal grand jury for preparing fraudulent returns

WILMINGTON, Del. – A Dover tax preparer has been indicted for the preparation of fraudulent returns.

A federal grand jury returned the indictment on Wednesday, charging 54-year-old Harvey Walker with preparing false and fraudulent returns.

According to the indictment, during the 2015 through 2019 tax years, Walker prepared a total of 23 fraudulent returns for eight different individual clients. Those returns are alleged to have falsely claimed deductions for charitable contributions and unreimbursed employee expenses and to have falsely claimed business losses, among other things.

The maximum penalty for each count is three years behind bars and a $100,000 fine.
