‘Young Survivors In Action’ program promotes all things wellness, pushes importance of self-care
DELAWARE, – One organization is looking to provide support for breast cancer survivors in the first state.
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s “Young Survivors in Action” program provides resources and tools for those diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age or those still young at heart.
Due to the pandemic, the group’s programming is being offered virtually via Facebook livestreaming. Those programs include Sleeptime Yoga, FUNctional Fitness, and Healing Meditation, with most half-hour classes being offered on a monthly-basis.
Organizers say it’s a push to spread awareness of the importance of self-care and overall health. “Our focus is staying active, eating healthy, and just living holistically and well balanced,” Director of Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s Amanda Perdue said.
“Just seeing the women continue to show up for themselves even when they’re feeling pretty rotten is really motivating for me and knowing that I’m serving my purpose of helping these women,” Wellness Coordinator and Instructor Jessica Moyner said.
“All the programs sort of provide a lot of support. We’re doer’s, so we’re do things and we’re doing practical things that are gonna support our health,” Participant and Survivor Jamie LaScala said.
Perdue also says that classes are open to all ages and also men. To get involved with any of the classes offered, click here
