Worcester State’s Attorneys Office gets green light to expand, an effort allowing preparation for body cameras

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.- The state’s attorney’s office in Worcester County is expanding in response to a new requirement for Maryland law enforcement.

They said Maryland wants law enforcement officers wearing body cameras by 2025, but Worcester County would like to make that change sooner.

But, reviewing all that body camera footage is going to require resources and man-power, which is why the Worcester office will be adding 12 new staff members.

Thanks to approval from county commissioners and other officials.

“They have all recognized and understood the significance of allowing my office to prepare for the body camera implementation to ensure that we continue our success in prosecution because ultimately without the prosecution you have no law enforcement,” Kris Heiser, Worcester County State’s Attorney, said.

The Worcester County State’s Attorney’s office is now on the hunt for 6 new attorneys, and 6 support staff members.
