Virginia man arrested following pursuit over 100mph
PAINTER, Va. – A Virginia man has been charged after he fled from police while doing over 100 mph Monday morning.
At around 9:15 a.m., a Virginia State Police Trooper was operating radar on Route 13 in Painter when a Mazda 3 reportedly came through at 102 mph in a 55 mph zone. The trooper tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver, later identified as Trevor Giddins, attempted to elude the trooper. Giddens turned off Route 13 onto Coal Kiln Road and lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Big Pine Road and Coal Kiln Road.
Giddins was subsequently arrested and charged with eluding, possession with the intent to distribute, driving while under the influence of drugs, and reckless driving. He was later released on a $2500 unsecured bond.
