Team Trace fighting congenital heart diseases, gala to take place Saturday
EASTON, Md. – ‘Team Trace’ an organization dedicated to fighting Congenital Heart Disease is preparing for one of their biggest fundraisers, the Heart to Heart gala.
President Daryl Knight tells 47 ABC, they started their organization 10 years ago after their son passed away from the disease. Now they have a mission of raising funds for research at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C.
We’re told they’ve already donated over $400,000 over 10 years. Knight says the research team is focused on developing a pacemaker that can be implanted without requiring open-heart surgery. On Saturday, their 10th annual Heart to Heart gala will help continue that mission. “And if we dream big, the Eastern Shore is kind of our goal to conquer over the next 10 years,” says Knight. He adds, “But the event is also a time to celebrate and have lots of fun about how we are fighting and helping these little guys and girls fight and have a better life and improve their outcomes.”
Knight also tells us, they’ve been working on placing AED’s defibrillators at kids’ sports fields throughout Talbot County and hope to add more throughout the Eastern Shore.
