Seaford Chic-Fil-A fundraiser raises $5k for community pillar Michael Stein

SEAFORD, Del. – Community members came out Wednesday in a big way in honor of one of their own, Michael Stein.

Stein is no stranger to the Seaford community or to lending a helping hand to those that need one.

That’s why the Chick-Fil-A in Seaford hosted a fundraiser in his honor were for every purchase $1 was donated to Stein to help with medical bills.

Community members also made get well cards and filled up the donation box in the store.

Marketing Director Rachel Dukes tells 47ABC they were able to collect $5,000 dollars for a man who’s always been there for others in need. “This is just proof that Seaford does love each other. We are a strong community and we rally together when there’s a need and there definitely was tonight and we showed up for it,” Dukes said.

We’re told,  Stein began having severe pains in his legs last year, which made him seek medical attention. This lead to doctors finding multiple blood clots, which they say were brought on by COVID-19 complications and undiagnosed diabetes. Fast forward to this week, Stein has now had two surgical procedures which both his legs were amputated.

Family tells 47ABC Stein has a long road to recovery, but as for now he’s currently getting better in the hospital and managing the pain.
