Police: 19-year-old injured in Dover area shooting

DOVER, Del. – Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 19-year-old early Friday morning in Dover.

We’re told right around midnight officers responded to the American Legion for a report of shots fired. Officers found a large group of people dispersing the area, and numerous shell cases were found. Officers also learned that two unoccupied vehicles had been hit by gunfire.

Approximately one hour later, Dover Police were notified that a 19-year-old male was taken to Christiana Hospital by private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his thigh. The victim reportedly provided multiple inconsistent accounts of the incident while speaking with detectives.

At around 2:50 a.m., a third vehicle owner contacted Dover Police to report that their window was shot out while at the party. The person told police that they were inside during the incident and found the damage to their vehicle as they were leaving the party.
