New MDH COVID-19 testing site opens at TidalHealth Tuesday
SALISBURY, Md.- Delmarva residents have a new option for walk-in coronavirus testing as a new site opens in Salisbury.
The Maryland Department of Health is opening new testing sites in partnership with state health departments, hospitals, and the National Guard.
The new testing site located at Tidalhealth is free of charge and will issue test results electronically.
TidalHealth said the new site will be a community health resource and will hopefully relieve pressure on local emergency rooms and urgent care centers.
“I think for our team, the first thing it shows that the state is really aware of the pressures on our health care systems right now by then coming down and that’s really important because our teams are getting tired,” Dr. Kathryn Fiddler, VP of Population Health at TidalHealth, said. “Two years into health care and taking care of COVID patients it shows the community that hey this is really important.”
The testing site is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Tuesday thru Saturday at TidalHealth, on the corner of Waverly Drive and Old Vine Street.
