New Dorchester Women’s Mural coming to Cambridge this year
CAMBRIDGE, Md.- A new mural dedicated to women and their countless contributions is coming to a Main Street Wall in Cambridge this year.
The Dorchester Women’s Mural will feature 7 women who have done some notable things including leading the capital police force, being the first woman to command an air craft carrier, and more.
The President of the Cambridge Community Arts Foundation said the county has become a mural destination and that this new mural will hopefully tell a story and teach, like many other murals in the county.
“I know when we first put it out a lot of people were saying well who are some of these women I can’t tell and so we will have an educational piece that goes a long with that so school groups can come and learn about these women,” Linda Starling, President of Cambridge Community Arts Foundation, said.
The plans are for the mural to be completed by this summer, but as of now, fundraising efforts are underway to make the proposed artwork a reality.
They do want to eventually expand the mural and add more women to the project.
Also, they hope to have a community art day so people can participate in the painting of the mural.
