MD Comptroller running for Governor’s seat

MARYLAND– The state’s comptroller is throwing his hat in the ring for the Governor’s seat.

Peter Franchot has spent the last 16 years as Maryland’s comptroller and before that, he served in the U.S. army and in Maryland’s House of Delegates.

Franchot told 47ABC he has made a lot of connections over the years and thinks he can really make a difference for Maryland, by focusing on road improvements, affordable healthcare, and access to digital connectivity.

“I’ve done nothing but serve, help protect, give voice to the underdogs,” Franchot said.

Franchot said if he is Governor he will continue his mission of helping people and bringing communities together on the Eastern Shore.

“Rather than dividing us unify us, so the water men are happy with the environmentalist, the farmers are happy with the folks that are trying to save the bay,” Franchot said.

Franchot also said education and supporting small businesses will be top priorities, if he’s elected governor.
