Life after COVID and what that could that look like
DELMARVA – Local Medical experts are discussing life after the coronavirus and what that could look like for Delmarva.
Dr. James Trumble, Vice President of clinical integration at TidalHealth says, returning to what we, as a society, know as normal is most likely not going to happen.
Dr. Trumble says the past two years have emphasized the importance of health, especially in social settings. Between washing your hands more often, wearing masks in crowded places, and the increased use of technology, a life after COVID-19 will most likely look a lot different. “I think this will end up becoming some sort of variation year to year of some sort of seasonal COVID infection just like we see the flu,” says Dr. Trumble. He adds, “It’s something that we’re going to be living with just for years to come.”
We’re also told many doctors like Dr. Trumble are concerned about patients who aren’t taking preventive health measures like seeing their doctor regularly, or checking for preventive, chronic diseases like breast cancer. He’s worried that health concerns outside of COVID-19 could re-surface but says that hopefully, we learn how to be more mindful of others throughout the rest of this pandemic and beyond. “There are others out there who are very much at high risk, and each of us as individuals our actions ultimately puts the rest of the community at risk,” says Dr. Trumble. He adds, “I think the best we can hope for is that this thing evolves in a way that it does cause less death.”
Dr. Trumble also says similar to the flu, COVID-19 vaccines could become another one of our yearly shots.
